I’m in love with a woman,
But I once loved a man,
Some of my girl friends have girlfriends,
While my best friend, a man, holds guys hands,
I accept all our differences,
And take them in stride,
Because I love all my friends,
With one simple reason why,
People are people,
No matter who we are,
Everyone should be loved,
Do we need any reason more?
I call myself an ally,
Because I’m not afraid to stand—
To speak out for my beliefs,
My actions, and who I really am,
We all need to help out,
The silence cannot last,
For love has no boundaries,
Nor should our present, future, or past,
To tear down these walls,
To learn to accept one another,
Would break the pained silence,
My friends and I have all suffered,
I stand here before you,
With hope for the future,
That love will be limitless,
Despite all true nature,
Think of your family and friends,
The people you encounter everyday,
Would you decide to shun them away,
Simply if they were a lesbian, bisexual, or gay?
